Hi all, hope you are well! I haven’t updated here for a couple weeks, but I am still plugging along! I have been very busy moving hostas from one part of the yard to another – I am trying to make a little hosta garden and seating area at the front of our house, and with my left leg giving me fits it’s been a bit of a challenge. BUT, it was coming along quite nicely up until yesterday, May 2, when we began to get THIS:

Can you believe it?? It has been snowing constantly since yesterday morning. Much has been melting as soon as it hits the ground, so the above is the extent of the accumulation, but still – it just makes me want to cry! I was SO ready for the warm weather to stick around! I had blooming daffodils… my tiny redbud tree was *just* about to pop into bloom… my husband had just mowed the lawn for the first time and it looked lush and green. It was Spring! And now it’s… not.

Oh well, as they say, “Don’t worry, it won’t last long.”

I do hope you are having a good week, I am not posting as often simply because it was finally warm enough to be outside working, riding the motorcycle, etc. But I am looking forward to sharing more thrifty treasures and the progress on my hosta garden as soon as I can!

More soon,

  1. Hi Janet, I was dismayed at the snow too! Hopefully our tulips and daffodils and flowering trees will recover from the insult. Have a wonderful wknd! We hope to go to Tulip Time in Pella, but we’ll see if the weather cooperates.

    • Beth, unfortunately it is supposed to be a bit rainy all weekend, but at least it’s going to warm up! Some friends of ours went down to Pella today (Friday) and their pictures were of snow-covered tulips… still pretty, but NOT what anyone wanted to see! Remember last year, it was so warm the tulips were all done blooming before the Tulip Festival! This is the second year in a row that the crazy weather has impacted their festival!

  2. Hi Janet! I can’t believe the snow folks are still getting around the country! Unreal! I hope it doesn’t harm your flowers. Did you injure your leg? I do hope you are ok….:) Hopefully spring will return to you soon!

    Blessings, Vicky

    • Hi Vicky! I’m not exactly sure what I did to my leg, but ever since last summer, it’s had a sort of “traveling injury” – first my knee hurts like crazy every time I stand up, then after a couple weeks of that it flares up the tendon on my ankle which then hurts for a few weeks… then back to the knee. So I’ve been limping for one reason or another for quite awhile, and I’m sure the way I re-distribute my weight when I favor the other side is having an impact on it. My doctor and the bone doctor are both a bit stymied, as x-rays seem to be normal except for my tendon. I do believe it will get better, but I’ve been up and down a lot moving the hostas and I’m sure that hasn’t helped. Still… I want to enjoy my new seating area before it gets to be a hundred degrees, so I’m trying to get it done as early as possible. Mother Nature is NOT cooperating! LOL
